Leprechaun houses

The Goal: To build a leprechaun house
The Project: Adapt a fairy house craft to make a St. Patrick's Day-worthy Leprechaun house, using mostly a toilet paper roll, felt, tissue paper, and crepe paper. Add battery-operated votives (2/$1 at most dollar stores), and it will glow from the inside.

Instructions: Start with cut-down paper towel tubes. (They tend to be stupider than toilet paper tubes.). Cover in felt, cloth, contact paper, or paper. Cut holes for windows. They can be covered with wax paper or tissue paper for a translucent effect. Decorate with stickers, glitter glue, pipe cleaners, string, decorative tape, etc. A battery-operated votive will just fit under the tube to light up the windows. I did this at a middle school Makers' Day and at a family STEAM night. It's best suited to 4th grade and up.
